Why K4 works so well

When these noxious plants and growths are in a forest, they are beneficial but around homes and buildings they damage and detract from the clean appearance on exterior surfaces domestically and commercially.

They make pathways treacherous to walk on causing serious injury, damage factory coatings and shorten the lives of surface with their corrosive effect. They are most common on Slate, concrete, terracotta and asphalt roof surfaces and very dangerous on exposed pebble pathways

K4 works on roofs by acting as a cationic surfactant and biocide that kills algae, moss, lichens, and fungi at the root level, rather than just whitening the surface instantly like bleach.

It works overtime (usually 3–18 months) to let nature—wind and rain—naturally remove the dead organic material, providing a long-lasting, deep clean.

  • K4 Destroys Cell Membranes: As a biocidal agent, it kills green/black algae and moss by breaking down their cellular structure.
  • K4 Long-Term Residual Effect: Unlike instant cleaners, it leaves a residual film on the roof that continues to kill new spores, providing a protective barrier against regrowth for several months.
  • Gradual Breakdown: After the initial application, it degrades organically and the over several weeks to months, turning moss brown and allowing it to fall off naturally. Lichen takes longer to luft off a roof but is already dead after treatment.
  • K4 Because it acts slowly, it is applied at lower concentrations (often in a “soft wash” approach) compared to sodium hypochlorite, making it less likely to damage sensitive roof tiles or surrounding vegetation.
  • K4 requires no scrubbing ort cleaning or high pressure. Just let nature take its course once treated.
  • What could be easier! K4 is biodegradable and will not kill plants or animals and is safe around people pets and gardens. However, we always rinse of gardens at the end of the treatment just to be sure.
